GeekFamID : A new squad has emerged as the dominant force in the ONE Esports Mobile Legends Professional League Invitational 2022 during the last several days. The Geek Fam Indonesian team has consistently failed in its MPL regional tournament, placing seventh or eighth every time. But now there is a new beast that is annihilating the greatest teams in the world and never losing ground in their pursuit of glory. They brought in practically a whole new lineup before MPL Indonesia Season 10, but it seems like they just required a short adjustment period to gel, with the addition of a devastating new mid laner in Aboy.
At MPLI 2022, Geek Fam ID has already beaten some really formidable opponents, including the M3 World Champions, Blacklist International, the MPL PH Season 9 champions, RSG Philippines, and one of Malaysia’s finest teams, Orange Esports. Having reached the finals, they faced off against ONIC Esports, the undisputed leaders of Indonesia. Although GF had been meticulous during the first two games, they would need to be even more so in order to emerge victorious from this best-of-five series.
ONIC, as the winners of MPL ID Season 10 and the current MPLI champions, were not going to let their championship slip away easily, and they fought back over the course of the following two games to force a decisive Game 5. Although GF were the side with the most incentive to pull off yet another stunning shock, ONIC were unstoppable once they hit their stride. ONIC put on a flawless performance, controlling the map and making key pickoffs that ultimately won them the series.
Despite a strong performance, Geek Fam’s incredible journey at MPLI 2022 ends with a disappointing second-place result. The squad may not be attending the M4 World Championships in January 2023, but they should still be able to do well in MPL ID Season 11 the following year. Since ONIC Esports has won the MPLI twice in a row, this completes an incredible reversal sweep. The group will next prepare for Mission 4, where they will attempt to once again demonstrate the efficacy of ID.
